Welcome students, parents, and caregivers!  Thank you for entrusting me with educating the young mind(s) of someone dear to you.  Teaching is a passion of mine.  The passion for me started in 4th and 5th grade when I had a husband and wife for teachers.  I could not have asked for better teachers nor have I had better teachers since.

Other than Mrs. Marshall (4th) and Mr. Marshall (5th), Ms. Bibbey (Art), Mrs. Bennett (Biology), Mrs. Romero (Geometry), the late Mrs. Kefgen (Spanish), and Mrs. Stauffer-Miller (Physics), were teachers I considered good teachers and impacted me as a learner and future educator.  Also noted is Mrs. Pfau-Null a special education teacher who served as my mentor and my assistant volleyball coach.  As much as I learned from 17% of my teachers, I also learned from the remaining 83% from non-examples on what it means to be a good teacher.

School work did not come easy for me.  I did not learn how to read until I was in the 4th grade.  Thanks to a very patient local librarian (in the summer) I was able to do what my peers were doing for years...read without every word being a sight word.  My 7th grade classmates and I were divided into 4 ability levels.  I was in the lowest group.  My point being, we all learn at different levels and at different times.  I flourished the next five years and graduated salutatorian of my senior class.

Actually, from the age of ten on I wanted to go to the Air Force Academy and be an architect/engineer.  I first wrote as a 5th grader and was sent a pre-candidate questionnaire when I was a junior in high school.  After submitting the questionnaire I met with  with representatives from West Point, Coast Guard Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy.  I received my recommendation by Ohio U.S. Representative Bob McEwen, but it was not to be.  Sports injuries requiring three surgeries in three years, with two coming just prior to my arrival at the academy made the physical aspect impossible at that time.  Without a Plan B, I spent the next year and a half working various jobs.  Realizing that I wanted more than that for my life, I started college in Berea, Kentucky in 1986 and have been in Kentucky ever since.  Some joke that because I am a Buckeye, I was not able to find my way back across the river.

Agenda Checks:  Each teacher daily writes class objectives, activities and homework notices on the board. Students are responsible for writing these in their agendas. If you would like to be more informed as to daily activities in each class, have your child to bring home this agenda and check it out. Teachers on our team check these agendas once a week in their class and it is counted as a grade. You are welcome to write a note to the teachers in your child’s agenda, if needed. Thanks for your support!
